A message from the President

A healthier Uganda begins with informed communities

Fellow Ugandans, colleagues and friends of public health,

Good health is strengthened long before illness reaches a hospital. It grows when families have reliable information, when children are protected through timely immunization, when communities understand how to prevent disease, and when health professionals listen, teach and work alongside the people they serve.

At the Society for Professional Health Educationists in Uganda (SFPHEU), we believe that health education is a vital bridge between knowledge and action. Our responsibility is not only to share information, but also to help make that information clear, practical and relevant to the lives of Ugandans in every setting - from classrooms and households to health facilities and hard-to-reach communities.

Uganda has made meaningful progress in public health, including through immunization and preventive services. Yet preventable illness, misinformation and unequal access to trusted health information remain challenges. We must continue to encourage recommended childhood vaccinations, responsible health practices, early care-seeking and informed decisions, guided by qualified health professionals and public-health authorities.

SFPHEU values the dedication of health education professionals and the importance of working with district teams, health facilities, schools, community leaders and other partners. Through professional learning, public awareness and collaborative outreach, we seek to strengthen the role of health education in healthier, more resilient communities.

I invite our members, partners and the public to join us in turning health knowledge into everyday practice. Let us nurture a culture in which prevention is understood, sound health information is accessible, and every community is encouraged to take part in protecting its wellbeing.

Together, through informed choices and collective responsibility, we can contribute to a healthier Uganda.
