Fourteen activities, one commitment to health education

Activity 01 · School and adolescent health

School health education and awareness campaigns

SFPHEU members carried out school health education and awareness activities with learners and accompanying adults. Bringing facilitators and school communities together, this outreach takes preventive-health conversations into learning environments and gives learners an opportunity to engage with health educators.

Schools provide familiar settings where learners, educators and community stakeholders can participate together. Through school outreach, the Society supports preventive understanding, informed everyday choices and stronger connections between schools and community health actors.

Activity 02 · Community engagement

Community health education and mobilization

SFPHEU brought community members together in an accessible outdoor setting for public-health sensitization and dialogue. This Society-led engagement reflects a commitment to reaching people beyond formal health facilities and working with local and district partners where appropriate.

Community mobilization creates opportunities to listen, build collective awareness and make public-health messages locally meaningful. Connecting technical health information with residents’ everyday concerns is central to the Society’s community health promotion work.

Activity 03 · Disease prevention

Ebola prevention and awareness engagement

SFPHEU assigned its member Patrick to support an Ebola awareness campaign using a vehicle displaying epidemic-prevention messaging. His Society-assigned outreach extended health information beyond stationary meeting venues and brought recognizable prevention messages into community settings.

Patrick’s contribution illustrates the practical role of members in disease-prevention communication. Mobile sensitization complements community meetings by taking information to people where they live and gather, helping them recognize preventive guidance and appropriate sources of health information.

Activity 04 · Professional development

Health promotion conferences and professional exchange

SFPHEU organized and participated in health-promotion conference engagement, bringing health education practitioners and other professional stakeholders together to exchange experience on health promotion and disease prevention. These two photographs record the same conference gathering.

Professional exchange provides space for dialogue, networking and shared attention to emerging health education priorities. Through conference participation, the Society connects practitioners’ experience with wider discussions about prevention and community-facing health communication.

Activity 05 · Health workforce development

Training Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs) in Napak District

SFPHEU collaborated with the Napak District Health Educator and district health structures to support classroom-based training for Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs). Facilitators and participants worked together in training venues with learning materials as part of the Society’s district-level workforce-development engagement.

These learning sessions provide a structured setting for discussing health topics, field responsibilities and community engagement in relation to district guidance. Supporting Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs) strengthens the connection between professional health education and the everyday communication needs of grassroots health services.
